Our President: Richard Begin
Richard (Dick) Begin has spent more than 35 years in a myriad of management roles at Westbrook Housing, experience that has afforded him a special vantage point as the agency’s representative in the development and administration of community-based programs.
He is responsible for establishing community-wide partnerships to assist with the successful transitioning of properties to affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. In this role, he works with the Maine Cities, New Neighbors, Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Community Development Block Grant, Multi-Family Rehabilitation Program, and Section 8 Home Ownership programs.
His credentials include that of Department of Environmental Protection Approved Lead Smart Renovator, State of Maine Lead Abatement Sampling Technician, and C.B.D.G. Certified Administrator. He has received Septic System Inspections Certification, Maine Energy Code Certification, and HUD Section 8 Quality Housing Standards Certification. He has also completed course work in Multi- and Single-Family Housing Developments.
Begin is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine.
Our Development Director: Tyler Norod
Tyler Norod joined Westbrook Development Corporation (WDC) in 2021 as Director of Development. Prior to WDC, Tyler worked as a Development Officer for Avesta Housing Development Corporation. At Avesta, Tyler lead the development efforts on a variety of large projects across Southern Maine and New Hampshire that included historic tax credits, Passive House Certified buildings for seniors, and a multi-phased mixed-use urban development.
Before working in real estate development, Tyler spent several years as the Housing Planner for the City of Portland and a Senior Project Manager for the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
Tyler has a BA in Political Science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Development Officer: Kristin Styles
Kristin joined WDC in 2024 as a Development Officer. Prior to joining WDC, Kristin was the Director of Community Development for Cumberland County. Her office worked with the 27 Towns and Cities within the County to address housing, homelessness, and economic development need within their communities. Her office also administered the U.S. Dept. of HUD CPD programs for the County. During her time at the County, Kristin served on regional housing, economic development, and homeless needs committees. She also served as Chair for Region 1 of the National Community Development Assocation.
Kristin earned a BA from the University of South Florida and Master’s in Regional Planning from UMass Amherst.
Construction Services Director – Owner’s Representative: Maggie Stanley
As a Licensed Maine Architect, Maggie comes to WDC from a different side of the table from most in development. Her background is in the design and construction administration of multi-family and historic buildings in and around Southern Maine. She joined WDC in 2022 after several years working for CWS Architects where her focus was in senior and family housing developments and rehabs for Avesta, Portland Housing Authority and Community Housing of Maine. While at CWS, Maggie acted primarily as a Construction Administrator, working with contractors and owners to navigate unforeseen conditions and provide oversight that the projects were built as designed.
Maggie earned her B.Arch from Syracuse University.
